Adventures - Travels of the Muse
July 25 - Ypsilanti, MI - Michigan Beer Fest - One of my favorite Beer Fests. Michigan has some great breweries! Plus it's a two-day festival. |
July 19 - Indiana Beer Fest - Great beer fest. Hoppin' Frog was the only Ohio Brewery there. Got some great pictures, I think, but I'll never know because my camera got ripped! Lost pictures from Wynkoop in Denver, Mad Anthony's in Ft. Wayne, the RAM in Seattle, and Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery. Of those, Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery was my favorite NEW find. A wonderful selection for Belgian Beer lovers! Three great sours on tap plus other Belgians. Sure wish I had those pictures. Had some of my cousins from Minneapolis, that I hadn't seen in 30 years, too! |
| July 3 - Denver, CO - My YouTube debut! That's me in the opening frame, bottom right. It was taken by PZ Myers at Wynkoop Brewery. Only record I have since my camera was stolen (see above). | |
April 2 - Libertyville, IL - Mickey Finn's Brewery - Food was good and the IPA on Nitro was awesome! |
April 1 - Grand Rapids, MI, IL - Hop Cat - Great new bar in downtown Grand Rapids with 48 taps and one hand pull! The naked bartenders were juggling kittens. |
| March 20 - Reynoldsburg, OH - Mulholland Brewing Company - My first visit to Mulholland. Brewer Vince Falcone was brewing while I sampled all the beers and had a very enjoyable dinner. They also have a number of good guest beers on tap. Check it out when in the Columbus area. |

March 15 - New Albany, IN - New Albanian Brewing Company - GRAVITY HEAD 2008 is still ON! It's definitely worth the visit. Of the 60 plus kegs planned for Gravity Head 08, they have only gone through about 30. So it's only half over! In addition to the high gravity beers, there is also a wonderful selection of other brews.. their own and guest taps. |

March 15 - Louisville, KY - Cumberland Brewing - Wonderful little brewery in the heart of the Bardstown Road neighborhood. The big news is that the little kettle in the front window (picture on the right) is not the only brewkettle they have now. They purchased the 15-bbl system from Copper Canyon Brewery in Phoenix and are now brewing in an off-site location nearby. The Pale Ale was good (as always), and they had an interesting Mock Bock (made with ale yeast) and a Dortmunder (so fresh it was still a little cloudy). |

March 11 - Cleveland, Ohio - Buckeye Beer Engine - An excellent beer/food pairing dinner! These are being held monthly now on the second Tuesday of the month. The dinner featured beers from Ommegang and a six course dinner. I love the Ommegeddon... the "funkhouse" ale. This is one beer that's much better after aging in the bottle. The fresh tap version doesn't have much of the brettanomyces flavor going on. That takes time! The picture on the right is the guest speaker, John Mediate of Duvel (parent company of Ommegang). |

Feb 23 - Munich Airport - Airbrau - If you're ever stuck in Munich airport for any length of time, check out the only brewery I've ever seen in an airport... the actual brewery, not just an outlet for a local brewery. This hefeweizen was pretty good for breakfast! |
Feb 22 - Schilthorn, Switzerland - Piz Gloria - At the revolving restaurant made famous in the James Bond movie - On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Rugen Brau Pilsner was the beer of choice to go with the Bratwurst and Roesti. |
Feb 21, 2008 - Bern, Switzerland - Tram Depot Brewery - Interesting place... this Bern. Outside the brewery is a big pit with two live bears in it. Mostly good German style beers here. Hefeweizen was good. |
